What is a Conservation Management Network?

Does a CMN include both private and public land?

Mallee Fowl MoundYes land of all tenures can be included in the network. Public land managers have already agreed to participate. Private landholders, particularly those who manage remnant vegetation, are also welcome.

Will there be restrictions on private land managers?

No, there will be no rules imposed on land managers. However, there is an expectation that members will have some interest in conservation management and that land managers will be willing to undertake some suitable management action when able.

The CMN is run by a committee including local people. There are 12 committee members. The Wedderburn CMN has funded a number of on-ground works and activities including:- Laying Fox-off baits

The CMN is currently working with the Wedderburn Secondary College to assist students in developing a greater understanding of their local environment.
